EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order amends the Sports Grounds and Sporting Events (Designation) Order 2005 for the purposes of designating sporting events to which the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc) Act 1985 applies.

The Order substitutes a reference to the Scottish Professional Football League for the Scottish Football League, following the merger of that league with the Scottish Premier League to form one body. The Order also clarifies that an association football match is designated where the match involves clubs whose home grounds are outside England or Wales but they are playing within England or Wales.
