The Child Poverty Act 2010 (Extension of Publication Deadline) (No. 2) Order 2013

Following a request by the Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission, the Minister of State for Schools makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 8B(5) of the Child Poverty Act 2010[^f00001].

Citation and commencement

• (1) This Order may be cited as the Child Poverty Act 2010 (Extension of Publication Deadline) (No.2) Order 2013.

• (2) It comes into force on 10th September 2013.

Extension of publication deadline for 2013

The publication deadline, before which the Commission would otherwise be required by section 8B(1) and (5) of the Child Poverty Act 2010[^f00002] to publish its first annual report, is extended from 26th September 2013 to 22nd October 2013.

Extension of publication deadline for 2014

The publication deadline, before which the Commission would otherwise be required by section 8B(1) of the Child Poverty Act 2010 to publish its second annual report, is extended from 8th May 2014 to 22nd October 2014.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

Section 8B(1) of the Child Poverty Act 2010 (c.9) requires the Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission (“the Commission”) to publish reports annually before 8th May in each year, starting in 2013. The publication deadline for the 2013 report was extended to 26th September 2013 by S.I. 2013/411.

This Order, made under section 8B(5) of that Act following a request by the Commission, further extends the publication deadline for the Commission’s 2013 report so that it may be published at any time before 22nd October 2013. It similarly extends the publication deadline for the Commission’s 2014 report so that it may be published at any time before 22nd October 2014.

A full impact assessment has not been published for this instrument as it has no impact on the private sector or civil society organisations.

[^f00002]: Section 8B(1) requires the Commission to publish a report before each anniversary of the coming into force of section 8B. Section 8B came into force on 8th May 2012 by virtue of section 150(2)(j) of the 2012 Act. Section 8B(5) enables the publication deadline to be extended by Order. The publication deadline for the Commission’s first annual report was extended from 8th May 2012 to 26th September 2013 by S.I. 2013/411. “The Commission” is defined in section 8(1) of the Child Poverty Act 2010.
