The Education (Amendment of the Curriculum Requirements) (England) Order 2013

Coming into force: 1st September 2014

The Secretary of State now makes the following Order.

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Education (Amendment of the Curriculum Requirements) (England) Order 2013 and comes into force on 1st September 2014.

Amendment of section 84 of the Education Act 2002

In section 84 of the Education Act 2002 (curriculum requirements for first, second and third key stages) for paragraph (b) of subsection (3) substitute—

(b) computing,

Amendment of section 85 of the Education Act 2002

In section 85 of the Education Act 2002 ^f00002 for paragraph (a) of subsection (4) substitute —

(a) computing,

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order amends section 84(3) of the Education Act 2002 (c. 32) to substitute “computing” for “information and communication technology” as a foundation subject for the first, second and third key stages, and amends section 85(4) to have the same effect for the fourth key stage.

An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private sector or civil society organisations is foreseen. The impact on the public sector is minimal.
