Their Lordships make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by article 3(7A) of, and paragraph 1B of Schedule 1 to, the Health and Social Work Professions Order 2001[^f00001].

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Health Professions Council (Constitution) (Amendment) Order 2013 and comes into force on 1st January 2014.

Amendment of the Health Professions Council (Constitution) Order 2009

(1) The Health Professions Council (Constitution) Order 2009[^f00002] is amended as follows.

(2) For the title to the Order, substitute “Health and Care Professions Council (Constitution) Order 2009”.

(3) In article 1(1) (citation, commencement and interpretation), for “the Health Professions Council (Constitution) Order 2009” substitute “the Health and Care Professions Council (Constitution) Order 2009”.

(4) In article 2 (composition of the Council), for “10” (twice) substitute “6”.

(5) In article 10 (quorum of the Council), for “11” substitute “7”.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order amends the Health Professions Council (Constitution) Order 2009 (S.I. 2009/1345) (“the 2009 Order”).

The Health Professions Council was renamed the Health and Care Professions Council as from 1st August 2012 (see section 214 of the Health and Social Care Act 2012 (c. 7)). As a result of that change, article 2 of this Order amends the name of the 2009 Order to reflect that new name. Article 2 also reduces the constitution of the Council from 20 to 12 and its quorum from 11 to 7.
