The Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products and Energy Information (Amendment) Regulations 2014

The Secretary of State is a Minister designated[^f00001] for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[^f00002] in relation to the environmental aspects of product design and makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by that section.

Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products and Energy Information (Amendment) Regulations 2014 and come into force on 1st July 2014.

• (1) The table at paragraph 4 of Schedule 1 (declaration of conformity) to the Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products Regulations 2010[^f00003] is amended as follows.

• (2) For the entry relating to electrical and electronic household and office equipment at item 2 substitute—

• (3) For the entry relating to a television at item 6 substitute—

• (4) After item 17 insert—

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations amend the Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products Regulations 2010 (S.I. 2010/2617) (“the 2010 Regulations”) and the Energy Information Regulations 2011 (S.I. 2011/1524) and partially implement Commission Regulations (EU) Nos 617/2013, 666/2013, 801/2013, 813/2013, 814/2013 and 66/2014, and Commission Delegated Regulations (EU) Nos 665/2013, 811/2013, 812/2013, and 65/2014 as follows—

• (a) regulation 2(2) updates the reference to the applicable implementing measure for electrical and electronic household and office equipment in Schedule 1 (declaration of conformity) to the 2010 Regulations;

• (b) regulation 2(3) updates the reference to the applicable implementing measure for televisions in Schedule 1 (declaration of conformity) to the 2010 Regulations;

• (c) regulation 2(4) adds the following products to Schedule 1 (declaration of conformity) to the 2010 Regulations from 1st July 2014: computers and computer servers, vacuum cleaners, water heaters and hot water storage tanks, space heaters and combination heaters, domestic ovens, hobs and range hoods; and

• (d) regulation 3 adds the following products to Schedule 1 (EU measures) to the Energy Information Regulations 2011 to apply from the dates referred to in regulation 3: vacuum cleaners, water heaters, hot water storage tanks and packages of water heater and solar device, space heaters, combination heaters, packages of space heater, temperature control and solar device and packages of combination heater, temperature control and solar device, domestic ovens and range hoods.

A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as an assessment of costs and benefits is carried out prior to each of the product-specific EU Regulations concerned being passed at EU level.
