The Secretary of State now makes the following Regulations.

These Regulations may be cited as the National Curriculum (Exceptions for First, Second, Third and Fourth Key Stages) (England)(Amendment) Regulations 2014 and come into force on 1st September 2014.
Amendments to the National Curriculum (Exceptions for First, Second, Third and Fourth Key Stages) (England) Regulations 2013

The National Curriculum (Exceptions for First, Second, Third and Fourth Key Stages) (England) Regulations 2013[^f00002] are amended as follows.

After Regulation 2(3) insert—
(4) The programmes of study specified in relation to English and mathematics for the fourth key stage do not apply in relation to any pupil in the final year of the fourth key stage during the school year 2015 to 2016.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE
These Regulations amend the National Curriculum (Exceptions for First, Second, Third and Fourth Key Stages) (England) Regulations 2013 which make provision for: (a) the National Curriculum to be disapplied, with exceptions, for all key stages for the school year 2013 to 2014 and (b) the programmes of study for the core subjects to be disapplied for the fourth key stage for the school year 2014 to 2015.
These Regulations provide for the programmes of study for the core subjects of English and mathematics to be disapplied for year 11 pupils for the school year 2015 to 2016.
An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as it has no impact on business or civil society organisations. The instrument has a minimal impact on the public sector.
