The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 120(1) of the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012[^f00001].

This Order may be cited as the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 (Commencement No. 10) Order 2014

Part 7 of Schedule 1 to the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 (corresponding Northern Ireland provision for excepted or reserved matters etc) comes into force on the day after the day on which this Order is made.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order commences Part 7 of Schedule 1 to the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 (“the Act”) on the day after the day on which the Order is made. Part 7 of Schedule 1 to the Act allows the Secretary of State to make provision for Northern Ireland regarding the destruction, retention and use of biometric data for excepted or reserved purposes.
