The Equality Act 2006 (Dissolution of the Disability Committee) Order 2014

The Secretary of State has received a recommendation from the Commission for Equality and Human Rights in accordance with paragraph 60 of Part 5 of Schedule 1 to the Equality Act 2006[^f00003].
Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Equality Act 2006 (Dissolution of the Disability Committee) Order 2014 and comes into force on 1st April 2014.
Dissolution of the Disability Committee

The Disability Committee, established under paragraph 49(1) of Part 5 of Schedule 1 to the Equality Act 2006, is dissolved with effect from 31st March 2017.
Repeal and Consequential Amendments

- (1) Part 5 of Schedule 1 to the Equality Act 2006 is repealed with effect from 31st March 2017.
- (2) Accordingly, in Part 2 of that Schedule, omit paragraphs 21(2), 22(3), 29(2) and 30(3) from that date.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE
Article 2 of this Order dissolves the Disability Committee (“the Committee”), established under the Equality Act [2006 (c.3)](https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/3) (“the Act”) by the Commission for Equality and Human Rights, with effect from 31st March 2017.
Article 3 of this Order repeals Part 5 of Schedule 1 to the Act (which sets up and provides for the dissolution of the Committee) and makes consequential amendments to Part 2 of Schedule 1 to the Act as a consequence of the Committee’s dissolution.
A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private or voluntary sectors is foreseen.
