The Deregulation Act 2015 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2015

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 115(7) of the Deregulation Act 2015[^f00001].

Citation

This Order may be cited as the Deregulation Act 2015 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2015.

Provision relating to schools coming into force on 1st January 2016

The day appointed for the coming into force of paragraph 2 (home-school agreements) of Schedule 16 to the Deregulation Act 2015 (and section 66(5) of that Act so far as it relates to that paragraph) is 1st January 2016.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into force a provision of the Deregulation Act 2015 (“the Act”) that relates to the reduction of burdens on schools.

Article 2 brings into force paragraph 2 of Schedule 16 to the Act on 1st January 2016. That paragraph removes the requirement (in sections 110 and 111 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998[^f00002]) for the governing bodies of certain schools in England and Wales to adopt home-school agreements setting out the school’s aims, values, responsibilities, and expectations of pupils and parents. It also removes the requirement for those governing bodies to take steps to ensure that parents give their written acknowledgement and acceptance of such agreements.

An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as it has no impact on businesses and civil society organisations.
