The Prisons (Property) Act 2013 (Commencement) Order 2015

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 2(2) of the Prisons (Property) Act 2013[^f00001]:

This Order may be cited as the Prisons (Property) Act 2013 (Commencement) Order 2015.
Commencement

Section 1 (power to destroy or otherwise dispose of property) of the Prisons (Property) Act 2013 comes into force on 26th March 2015.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order brings section 1 of the Prisons (Property) Act 2013 (c. 11) (“the Act”) into force on 26thMarch2015. Section 1 of the Act inserts into the Prison Act 1952 (c. 52) a new section 42A which introduces a power for prison governors and directors to destroy or otherwise dispose of unauthorised property confiscated or found in specific circumstances.
