The Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (Alcohol Abstinence and Monitoring Requirements) Piloting (Amendment) Order 2016

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 77(1) and (4) of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012[^f00001].
Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (Alcohol Abstinence and Monitoring Requirements) Piloting (Amendment) Order 2016 and comes into force on 30th January 2016.

In article 4(1) (period for which section 76 of the Act is in force) of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (Alcohol Abstinence and Monitoring Requirements) Piloting Order 2014[^f00002], for “the period of 18 months beginning with 31st July 2014” substitute “31st March 2016”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order amends the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (Alcohol Abstinence and Monitoring Requirements) Piloting Order 2014 (S.I. 2014/1777) which brought into force section 76 of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (c. 10), only in relation to the South London local justice area, for a period of 12 months beginning with 31st July 2014. The Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (Alcohol Abstinence and Monitoring Requirements) Piloting (Amendment) Order 2015 (S.I. 2015/1480) extended the period of time for which section 76 is in force, in that area, by a period of 6 months. This Order further extends the period of time for which section 76 is in force, in that area, to the end of 31st March 2016.
A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on the private, voluntary or public sectors is foreseen.
