The Modern Slavery Act 2015 (Duty to Co-operate with Commissioner) Regulations 2016

Coming into force: 25th November 2016

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 43(9)(a) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015[^f00001], makes the following Regulations.

Citation and commencement

• (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (Duty to Co-operate with Commissioner) Regulations 2016.

• (2) These Regulations come into force on 25th November 2016.

Specified public authority: Director of Labour Market Enforcement

In the category of public authorities entitled “Regulators” in Schedule 3 to the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (public authorities under a duty to co-operate with the Commissioner)[^f00002], after “The Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority.”, insert “The Director of Labour Market Enforcement.” as a new entry.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

Section 43 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 places specified public authorities under a duty to co-operate with the Independent Anti-slavery Commissioner. These Regulations amend the list of specified public authorities under a duty to co-operate with the Commissioner in Schedule 3 to that Act by adding the Director of Labour Market Enforcement.

A full regulatory impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private or voluntary sectors is foreseen.
