Their Lordships make the following Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 34D(3) and 34K(1)(c) of the Medical Act 1983[^f00001].

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training (Amendment) Order of Council 2016 and comes into force on 1st day of April 2016.

Amendment

In Part 2 of the Schedule to the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Order of Council 2010[^f00002] (recognised specialties within the United Kingdom), at the appropriate place in the alphabetical order insert “Aviation and space medicine”.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order amends the Schedule to the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Order of Council 2010 (“the 2010 Order”) (S.I.2010/473). That Schedule lists the specialties recognised in the United Kingdom.

Article 2 amends Part 2 (specialties for which there is a minimum training period of four years) of the Schedule to the 2010 Order by adding an entry for “Aviation and space medicine”.
