The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by sections 11(1) and 13(2) of the European Union Referendum Act 2015[^f00001].

These Regulations may be cited as the European Union Referendum Act 2015 (Commencement) Regulations 2016.
Appointed day

The provisions of the European Union Referendum Act 2015 that are not already in force come into force on 1st February 2016.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
EXPLANATORY NOTE
Sections 9 to 14 of the European Union Referendum Act 2015 (c. 36) came into force on 17th December 2015 when the Act was passed.
These Regulations bring into force the remaining provisions of the Act on 1st February 2016.
