The A12 Trunk Road (Lowestoft Northern Spine Road, Suffolk) (Trunking and Detrunking) Order 2016

The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980 [^f00001], [^f00002] and [^f00003], makes the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the A12 Trunk Road (Lowestoft Northern Spine Road, Suffolk) (Trunking and Detrunking) Order 2016 and shall come into force on 23rd September 2016.

In this Order —
- (1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;
- (2)
- (a) “the plan” means the plan numbered HA/10/NDD/009 marked “The A12 Trunk Road (Lowestoft Northern Spine Road, Suffolk) (Trunking and Detrunking) Order 2016”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at Document Deposit Service, Communities and Local Government, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA; and
- (b) “The trunk road” means the A12 Trunk Road in the District of Waveney in the County of Suffolk.

From the date when this Order comes into force:
- (a) the length of the highway described in Schedule 1 shall become trunk road, and
- (b) the length of the trunk road described in Schedule 2 shall cease to be a trunk road.

The centre line of the trunk road is indicated by a heavy black line on the plan.
SCHEDULE 1 — LENGTH OF HIGHWAY BECOMING TRUNK ROAD
The length of highway becoming trunk road is shown by a solid black line on the plan and is a realigned length of the A12 from a point 109.3 metres in a generally southerly direction from the centre of the B1385 junction at Lowestoft in the County of Suffolk to a point 234.5 metres in a generally northerly direction from the centre of the B1385 junction where it joins the existing A12, a distance of 0.48 kilometres (includes length around circulatory carriageway of roundabout).
SCHEDULE 2 — LENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE TRUNK ROAD
The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated between a point 109.3 metres in a generally southerly direction from the centre of the B1385 junction and a point 234.5 metres in a generally northerly direction from the centre of the B1385 junction, an overall length of 0.34 kilometres, and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order will detrunk a length of the A12 and designate trunk road status to a realigned length of the A12 in Lowestoft.
