Made: 27th September 2016

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 216(3) of the Housing and Planning Act 2016[^f00001] makes the following Regulations:

These Regulations may be cited as the Housing and Planning Act 2016 (Commencement No. 3) Regulations 2016.

The following provisions of the Housing and Planning Act 2016 come into force on 1st October 2016—

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations bring into force various provisions of the Housing and Planning Act 2016 (c.22) (“the Act”) on 1st October 2016.

Regulation 2(a) brings into force Chapter 3 of Part 4 of the Act which makes provision relating to rents for high income social tenants of local housing authorities (sections 80 to 87) and private registered providers of social housing (sections 89 and 90). Section 91 provides for the interpretation of Chapter 3 of Part 4.

Regulation 2(b) brings into force section 183 of and paragraphs 1, 2(1) and 2(2) and 3(1) and 3(2) of Schedule 15 to, the Act for the purposes of prescribing statements and forms under section 15(4)(e) and (f) of, and paragraph 6(4)(e) and (f) of Schedule 1 to, the Acquisition of Land Act 1981(c.67). Regulation 2(b) also commences paragraph 8 of Schedule 15, which enables the Secretary of State to make regulations to amend legislation on compulsory purchase for the purpose of making amendments which correspond to those made by that Schedule.
