Made: 1st March 2017

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 77(1) and (4) of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012[^f00001].

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (Alcohol Abstinence and Monitoring Requirements) Piloting (Amendment) Order 2017 and comes into force on 31st March 2017.

In article 4(1) (period for which section 76 of the Act is in force) of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (Alcohol Abstinence and Monitoring Requirements) Piloting Order 2016[^f00002], for “2017” substitute “2018”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order amends the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (Alcohol Abstinence and Monitoring Requirements) Piloting Order 2016 (S.I. 2016/286) which brings into force section 76 of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (c. 10), in relation to nine specified local justice areas beginning with 1st April 2016 until the end of 31st March 2017. This Order extends the period of time for which section 76 is in force, in the specified areas, until the end of 31st March 2018.

A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on the private, voluntary or public sectors is foreseen.
