The Scotland Act 2016 (Commencement No. 5) Regulations 2017
Made: 20th March 2017
The Secretary of State for Scotland makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 72(4) and (6) of the Scotland Act 2016[^f00001].
Citation

These Regulations may be cited as the Scotland Act 2016 (Commencement No. 5) Regulations 2017.
Provisions coming into force on 17th May 2017

The following provisions of Part 3 of the Scotland Act 2016 (welfare benefits and employment support) come into force on 17th May 2017—
- (a) in section 22 (disability, industrial injuries and carer’s benefits)—
- (i) subsection (1), for remaining purposes;
- (ii) subsections (2) and (4).
- (b) in section 23 (benefits for maternity, funeral and heating expenses)—
- (i) subsection (1), for remaining purposes;
- (ii) subsections (2) and (4);
- (iii) subsection (5), for the purpose of making regulations.
Provision coming into force on 1st April 2024

Subsection (5) of section 23 of the Scotland Act 2016 (payment of benefits for maternity, funeral and heating expenses in or as regards Scotland) comes into force for remaining purposes on 1st April 2024.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
EXPLANATORY NOTE
These Regulations bring into force provisions in Part 3 of the Scotland Act 2016 which relate to—
- disability, industrial injuries and carer’s benefits (section 22), and
- benefits for maternity, funeral and heating expenses (section 23).
The amendments made by provisions commenced by regulation 2 are subject to transitional provision made by the Scotland Act 2016 (Transitional) Regulations 2017 (S.I. 2017/444).
