Made: 11th September 2017

Coming into force: 18th September 2017

In accordance with section 14(1)(b) of that Act, the Secretary of State is satisfied that traffic on the length of road specified in this Order should be restricted because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to works.

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the M48 Motorway (Severn Bridge Weight) (Temporary Restriction of Traffic) Order 2017 and shall come into force on 18th September 2017.

Interpretation

In this Order –

and a reference to an article followed by a number is a reference to the article in this Order which bears that number.

Restrictions

Subject to article 4, no person may, during the period of danger, cause or permit any vehicle having an operating weight exceeding 7.5 tonnes to enter or proceed in outside lanes of the M48.

The provisions of article 3 and 4 will apply only during such times and to such extent as may, from time to time, be indicated by traffic signs and will not apply to any vehicle –

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order authorises the temporary restriction of traffic on the M48 Motorway (Severn Bridge) as of 18th September 2017 for a maximum of 18 months because of the likelihood of danger to the public.
