The Secretary of State for Education makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 47(2) of the Technical and Further Education Act 2017[^f00001].

These Regulations may be cited as the Technical and Further Education Act 2017 (Commencement No. 3) Regulations 2018.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations bring into force the specified provisions of the Technical and Further Education Act 2017 (c. 19) (“the 2017 Act”) on 9th February 2018. These are the third commencement regulations made under the 2017 Act.

Regulation 2 commences paragraph 3(2) of Schedule 1 to the 2017 Act (and other provisions are partially brought into force to support that purpose).

Paragraph 3(2) amends section ZA3 of the Apprenticeships Skills and Learning Act 2009 (c. 22) so that the Secretary of State may request the Institute for Apprenticeships to provide advice and assistance in relation to other education or training as well as in relation to apprenticeships. After commencement of section 1(1) of the 2017 Act, the Institute for Apprenticeships will be renamed the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education.
