Her Majesty, in exercise of the power conferred upon Her by section 37(2) of the British Nationality Act 1981[^f00001], by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, orders as follows.

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the British Nationality (The Gambia) Order 2018 and comes into force on 22nd June 2018.

Amendment of Schedule 3 to the British Nationality Act 1981

In Schedule 3 to the British Nationality Act 1981[^f00002] (countries whose citizens are Commonwealth citizens), insert “The Gambia” at the appropriate place.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

Article 2 of this Order adds The Gambia to Schedule 3 to the British Nationality Act 1981, with the result that citizens of The Gambia shall have the status of Commonwealth citizens.

No impact assessment has been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private, voluntary or public sectors is foreseen.
