The Secretary of State for Education makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 82(3) and (7) of the Education Act 2011[^f00001].

Citation and commencement

(1) This Order may be cited as the Education Act 2011 (Commencement No. 4 and Transitional and Savings Provisions) (Amendment) Order 2018.

(2) This Order comes into force on 9th July 2018.

Revocation

Article 5 of the Education Act 2011 (Commencement No. 4 and Transitional and Savings Provisions) Order 2012[^f00002] is revoked.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order revokes article 5 of the Education Act 2011 (Commencement No. 4 and Transitional and Savings Provisions) Order 2012 (S.I. 2012/1087).

Article 5 related to the commencement of an amendment to section 19 of the Education Act [2002 (c. 32)](https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2002/32). It paused the effect of the amendment until the governing body or local authority of a maintained school decided to vary the instrument of government. Further to regulations 2(1) and (3) of the School Governance (Constitution and Federations) (England) (Amendment) Regulations ([S.I. 2014/1257](https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2014/1257)), no such transitional arrangement was to persist beyond 1 September 2015. The provision is therefore revoked.
