The School Teachers’ Incentive Payments (England) Order 2019

Made: 16th July 2019

Laid before Parliament: 19th July 2019

Coming into force: 1st September 2019

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 123(4)(a) of the Education Act 2002 .

Citation, commencement and application

• (1) This Order may be cited as the School Teachers' Incentive Payments (England) Order 2019 and comes into force on 1st September 2019.

• (2) This Order applies only in relation to school teachers in England.

Incentive payments to school teachers

• (1) A lump sum payment made by the Secretary of State to a school teacher under one of the schemes mentioned in paragraph (2) is not to be treated as remuneration for the purpose of section 122(1) of the Education Act 2002.

• (2) The schemes are—

• (a) the Early-Career Payments Pilot,

• (b) the Mathematics and Physics Teacher Retention Payments Pilot, ...

• (c) the Teachers' Student Loan Reimbursement Pilot, ...

• (d) the Targeted Retention Incentive, and

• (e) the International Relocation Payment,

each administered by the Department for Education.

Revocation

The School Teachers' Incentive Payments (England) Order 2018 is revoked.
