The General Optical Council (Committee Constitution) (Amendment) Rules Order of Council 2019
Made: 6th August 2019
Coming into force: 1st September 2019
By virtue of section 34(1) of the Opticians Act 1989[^f00002], such Rules shall not come into force until approved by order of the Privy Council.
Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the General Optical Council (Committee Constitution) (Amendment) Rules Order of Council 2019 and comes into force on 1st September 2019.

Their Lordships, having taken the Rules set out in the Schedule into consideration, are pleased to, and do approve them.
SCHEDULE — The General Optical Council (Committee Constitution) (Amendment) Rules 2019
The General Optical Council makes the following Rules in exercise of its powers under section 5D(5)(a) of the Opticians Act 1989.
Citation and Commencement

These Rules may be cited as the General Optical Council (Committee Constitution) (Amendment) Rules 2019 and come into force on 1st September 2019.

In the General Optical Council (Committee Constitution) Rules 2005[^f00003], in rule 27 (hearings panel), omit paragraph (a).

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE
The Rules contained in the Schedule to this Order amend the General Optical Council (Committee Constitution) Rules 2005 as set out in the Schedule to the General Optical Council (Committee Constitution Rules) Order of Council 2005 (S.I. 2005/1474).
Rule 27 of those Rules is amended to remove the maximum number of members of the Hearings Panel, from which the Registration Appeals Committee and the Fitness to Practise Committee are constituted.
