The Sanctions (Overseas Territories) (Amendment) Order 2019

Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 1 of the United Nations Act 1946[^f00001], section 112 of the Saint Helena Act 1833[^f00002], the British Settlements Acts 1887 and 1945[^f00003], and all of the other powers enabling Her to do so, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order as follows:
Citation, commencement and extent

- (1) This Order may be cited as the Sanctions (Overseas Territories) (Amendment) Order 2019 and comes into force on 13th March 2019.
- (2) This Order extends to the territories listed in Parts 1 and 2 of the Schedule, except for article 2 which extends to the territories listed in Part 1 of the Schedule.

- (1) The Libya (Restrictive Measures) (Overseas Territories) Order 2011[^f00006] is amended as follows.
- (2) In paragraph (5) of article 30, after “In this article “relevant person””, insert “, in respect of a relevant institution,”.
- (3) In Schedule 1, omit “Bermuda”.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Order)
EXPLANATORY NOTE
Articles 2, 3 and 4(3) of this Order provide that the Lebanon and Syria (United Nations Measures) (Overseas Territories) Order 2006 (S.I. 2006/311), the Lebanon (United Nations Sanctions) (Overseas Territories) Order 2007 (S.I. 2007/283) and Part 1 of the Libya (Restrictive Measures) (Overseas Territories) Order 2011 (S.I. 2011/1080) will no longer extend to Bermuda, given that they now have the force of law in Bermuda by virtue of the International Sanctions Regulations 2013 (BR 14/2013).
Article 5 of this Order amends the Sanctions (Overseas Territories) (Amendment of Information Provisions) Order 2018 ([S.I. 2018/1076](https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2018/1076)) to remove a defectively drafted provision in that Order, which cannot be effected. Article 4(2) of this Order amends the Libya (Restrictive Measures) (Overseas Territories) Order 2011 ([S.I. 2011/1080](https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2011/1080)) in lieu of that defective provision.
