The Ecclesiastical Offices (Terms of Service) (Amendment) Regulations 2020

The Archbishops’ Council makes the following Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by section 2 of the Ecclesiastical Offices (Terms of Service) Measure 2009[^f00001]:
Citation and commencement

- (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Ecclesiastical Offices (Terms of Service) (Amendment) Regulations 2020.
- (2) These Regulations come into force on the day after that on which they are laid before Parliament.
Parental bereavement leave

- (1) In regulation 23 of the Ecclesiastical Offices (Terms of Service) Regulations 2009[^f00002] (maternity, parental, adoption etc. leave), in paragraph (1), for “or shared parental leave” substitute “, shared parental or parental bereavement leave”.
- (2) In paragraph (7) of that regulation, after the definition of “dependant” but before the following “and” insert—
- “parental bereavement leave” means leave under section 80EA of that Act[^f00003],”
- (3) In regulation 3 of those Regulations[^f00004] (statement of initial particulars of office), in paragraph (5)(g)(iv), for “and adoption leave” substitute “, adoption, shared parental and parental bereavement leave”.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
EXPLANATORY NOTE
These Regulations confer on an ecclesiastical office holder the same entitlement to parental bereavement leave which the office holder would have under the Employment Rights Act 1996 if he or she were working under a contract of employment.
