The Immigration Act 2014 (Commencement No. 7) Order 2021

Made: 29th June 2021

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 75(3) of the Immigration Act 2014[^f00001], the Secretary of State makes the following Order.

Citation and extent

This Order may be cited as the Immigration Act 2014 (Commencement No. 7) Order 2021 and extends to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Provisions coming into force on 1st July 2021

The day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Immigration Act 2014 is 1st July 2021—

• (a) section 73(6) (transitional and consequential provision) so far as is necessary for the purpose of the provisions listed in paragraphs (b) and (c);

• (b) paragraph 17 of Schedule 9 (provision relating to biometrics – repeal of section 143 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999[^f00002]);

• (c) paragraph 18 of Schedule 9 (provision relating to biometrics – repeal of section 36 of the Anti-terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001[^f00003]).

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order is the seventh commencement order made under the Immigration Act 2014 (c. 22).

Article 2 brings into force paragraphs 17 and 18 of Schedule 9 to the Immigration Act 2014 on 1st July 2021. Those provisions repeal section 143 (destruction of fingerprints) of the Immigration and Asylum Act [1999 (c. 33)](https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1999/33) and section 36 (destruction of fingerprints) of the Anti-terrorism, Crime and Security Act [2001 (c. 24)](https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2001/24).
