The Immigration (Registration with Police) (Revocation) Regulations 2022

The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 4(3) of the Immigration Act 1971[^f00001].
Citation, commencement and extent

- (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Immigration (Registration with Police) (Revocation) Regulations 2022 and come into force on 9th November 2022.
- (2) These Regulations extend to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Revocation

The Immigration (Registration with Police) Regulations 1972[^f00002] are revoked.
Requirements imposed before these Regulations come into force

Any condition requiring a person to register with the police which—
- (a) was imposed under the Immigration Act 1971 before the date on which these Regulations come into force, and
- (b) requires a person to comply with the requirements as set out in the Immigration (Registration with Police) Regulations 1972,
ceases to have effect when these Regulations come into force.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
EXPLANATORY NOTE
These Regulations revoke the Immigration (Registration with Police) Regulations 1972, which required an alien, unless exempt, to register with the police and to subsequently notify the police of any changes to their address or their particulars.
Regulation 3 provides that any condition imposed under the Immigration Act 1971, prior to the commencement of these Regulations, requiring an alien to register with the police and comply with the requirements as set out in the Immigration (Registration with Police) Regulations 1972, ceases to have effect when these Regulations come into force.
A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on private, voluntary or public sectors is foreseen.
