The Cathedrals Measure 2021 (Saving Provision) Order 2022
Made: 14th March 2022
Coming into force in accordance with article 1(2)
The Archbishops of Canterbury and York acting jointly, in exercise of the power conferred by section 53(10) of the Cathedrals Measure 2021[^f00001], make the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1
- (1) This Order may be cited as the Cathedrals Measure 2021 (Saving Provision) Order 2022.
- (2) This Order comes into force in relation to each cathedral on the date on which section 17 of the Cathedrals Measure 2021 comes into force in relation to that cathedral.
Saving for provision enabling establishment of committees
2
- (1) Section 17 of the Cathedrals Measure 2021 (provision in constitution about committees) does not prevent the inclusion in the constitution of the Chapter of a cathedral of provision enabling the establishment by the Chapter of committees or sub-committees.
- (2) For that purpose, section 10(1)(b) of the Cathedrals Measure 1999[^f00002] (which permits the constitution to include provision enabling the establishment of committees) continues in force, despite its repeal by section 51(1) of the Cathedrals Measure 2021; and section 10(1)(b) of the Cathedrals Measure 1999 is to have effect as also enabling the establishment of sub-committees.
- (3) A committee or sub-committee established in reliance on paragraph (1) is to be treated for the purposes of the Cathedrals Measure 2021 and the constitution of the cathedral as if it had been established by virtue of section 17(1) of that Measure.
Signed
- Justin Cantuar: — Archbishop of Canterbury
- Stephen Ebor: — Archbishop of York — 14th March 2022
