The Lord Chancellor makes these Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by section 131(2)(c) of the Public Service Pensions and Judicial Offices Act 2022[^f00001].

These Regulations may be cited as the Public Service Pensions and Judicial Offices Act 2022 (Commencement No. 2) Regulations 2023.

Commencement

To the extent that they are not already in force, the following provisions of the Public Service Pensions and Judicial Offices Act 2022 come into force on the day after the day on which these Regulations are made—

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

Explanatory Note

These Regulations are the second Commencement Regulations made under the Public Service Pensions and Judicial Offices Act 2022 (“the Act”) and they bring into force Chapter 2 and sections 109 and 110 of the Act.

Regulation 2(a) brings into force Chapter 2, to the extent that it is not already in force. Chapter 2 makes retrospective provision to rectify unlawful discrimination in the way in which existing judicial pension schemes were restricted under the Public Service Pensions Act 2013.

Regulation 2(b) brings into force section 109, to the extent that it is not already in force and to the extent that it applies for the purposes of Chapter 2 of the Act.

Regulation 2(c) brings into force sections 110, to the extent that it is not already in force and to the extent that it applies for the purposes of Chapter 2 of the Act.
