The Lord Chancellor makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 2(3) and 41(1)(a) and (b) and (2)(a) and (b) of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012[^f00001].
Citation, commencement and extent

- (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Criminal Legal Aid (Remuneration) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2024 and come into force on 5th December 2024.
- (2) These Regulations extend to England and Wales.
Amendment to the Criminal Legal Aid (Remuneration) (Amendment) Regulations 2024

- (1) The Criminal Legal Aid (Remuneration) (Amendment) Regulations 2024[^f00002] are amended as follows.
- (2) In regulation 2(5) (amendments to the Criminal Legal Aid (Remuneration) Regulations 2013[^f00003]), in the table headed “Higher and Lower Standard Fees table” following sub-paragraph (5) of inserted paragraph 5B (representation in the youth court), in the column headed “Lower Standard Fee (£)”, for “882.47”, substitute “822.47”.

Explanatory Note
These Regulations amend the Criminal Legal Aid (Remuneration) (Amendment) Regulations 2024 (S.I. 2024/1163) (“the 2024 Regulations”) to correct an error and are therefore being issued free of charge to all known recipients of the 2024 Regulations.
The 2024 Regulations amend the Criminal Legal Aid (Remuneration) Regulations 2013 (S.I. 2013/435) (“the Remuneration Regulations”) which make provision for the remuneration of advice, assistance and representation made available under sections 13, 15 and 16 of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (c. 10).
The 2024 Regulations introduce amendments to Schedule 4 to the Remuneration Regulations. These amendments include introducing a new fee scheme for proceedings in the youth court and certain proceedings in the magistrates’ court connected to youth justice (“the Youth Justice Fee Scheme”).
These Regulations amend the 2024 Regulations to correct one erroneous fee in the Youth Justice Fee Scheme.
