The Tuberculosis (Non-bovine animals) Slaughter and Compensation (England) (Amendment) Order 2024

Coming into force: 1st January 2025

The Secretary of State makes this Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 32(2) and 32(3) of the Animal Health Act 1981[^f00001] and now vested in the Secretary of State[^f00002], and with the approval of the Treasury.

Citation, commencement and application

• (1) This Order may be cited as the Tuberculosis (Non-bovine animals) Slaughter and Compensation (England) (Amendment) Order 2024 and comes into force on 1st January 2025.

• (2) This Order applies in England only.

Amendment to the Tuberculosis (Non-bovine animals) Slaughter and Compensation (England) Order 2017

• (1) The Tuberculosis (Non-bovine animals) Slaughter and Compensation (England) Order 2017[^f00003] is amended as follows.

• (2) In article 1 (citation, commencement, application and expiry), omit paragraph (3).

Explanatory Note

This Order amends the Tuberculosis (Non-bovine animals) Slaughter and Compensation (England) Order 2017 by omitting article 1(3), which provided for that Order to expire on 2nd January 2025.

A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant impact on the private, voluntary or the public sector is foreseen. Instead a de minimis assessment has been prepared as this instrument is likely to entail some costs for businesses, but the net impact is estimated to be below £10 million per year. Functions of the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food were then transferred to the Secretary of State by S.I. 2002/794.
