Explanatory Note

The Football Spectators (Seating) Order 2022 (S.I. 2022/728, “the 2022 Order”) directed the Sports Grounds Safety Authority to include in any licence to admit spectators (defined in section 1(7) of the Football Spectators Act 1989 (c. 37)) to the premises listed in Schedule 2 to that Order, a condition imposing the requirements specified in Schedule 1 to that Order as regards the seating of spectators during designated football matches at those premises.

“Designated football matches” are association football matches designated by order by the Secretary of State using the power conferred by section 1 of the Football Spectators Act 1989. The current designation order is the Football Spectators (Designation of Football Matches in England and Wales) Order 2000 (S.I. 2000/3331).

This Order amends the entry for Everton Football Club in Schedule 2 to the 2022 Order to reflect that the club has moved to a new stadium.

An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on the private, voluntary or public sector is foreseen.
