The Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011 (Commencement No. 10) Order 2015

The Welsh Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 156(2) of the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011[^f00001], make the following Order:

Title and interpretation

• (1) The title of this Order is the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011 (Commencement No. 10) Order 2015.

• (2) In this Order “Measure” (“Mesur”) means the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011.

Provisions commenced on 6 July 2015 for Scotland and Northern Ireland

The following provisions of the Measure come into force on 6 July 2015 in so far as they extend to Scotland and Northern Ireland—

• (a) section 144(3)(a) (Abolition of Board’s general functions and replacement of schemes with standards) of Part 9 to the extent it is not already in force; and

• (b) section 145(2) (Replacement of Welsh language schemes with standards) of Part 9 to the extent it is not already in force.

Provisions commenced on 7 July 2015

The following provisions of the Measure come into force on 7 July 2015—

• (a) Part 2 (The Welsh Language Commissioner) to the extent it is not already in force;

• (b) Part 4 (Standards) to the extent it is not already in force;

• (c) Part 5 (Enforcement of standards);

• (d) Part 8 (General) to the extent it is not already in force;

• (e) section 144(1), (2) and (3)(a) of Part 9 (Abolition of Board’s general functions and replacement of schemes with standards) to the extent it is not already in force;

• (f) Schedule 2 (Inquiries by the Commissioner) to the extent it is not already in force;

• (g) Schedule 3 (Amendments about joint and collaborative working); and

• (h) Schedule 10 (Commissioner’s investigation of failure to comply with standards etc).

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order is made under section 156(2) of the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011 (“the Measure”). Article 2 of this Order brings into force the following provisions of the Measure from 6 July 2015 in so far as they extend to Scotland and Northern Ireland—

• (a) section 144(3)(a) (Abolition of Board’s general functions and replacement of schemes with standards) of Part 9 to the extent it is not already in force; and

• (b) section 145(2) (Replacement of Welsh language schemes with standards) of Part 9 to the extent it is not already in force.

Article 3 of this Order brings into force the following provisions of the Measure from 7 July 2015—

• (a) Part 2 (The Welsh Language Commissioner) to the extent it is not already in force;

• (b) Part 4 (Standards) to the extent it is not already in force;

• (c) Part 5 (Enforcement of standards);

• (d) Part 8 (General) to the extent it is not already in force;

• (f) Schedule 2 (Inquiries by the Commissioner) to the extent it is not already in force;

• (h) Schedule 10 (Commissioner’s investigation of failure to comply with standards etc).

The Welsh Ministers’ Code of Practice on the carrying out of Regulatory Impact Assessments was considered in relation to this Order. As a result, it was not considered necessary to carry out a regulatory impact assessment as to the likely costs and benefits of complying with this Order.
