The Velindre National Health Service Trust (Establishment) (Amendment) Order 2017

Coming into force: 5 October 2017

The Welsh Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 18(1) and 204(1) of, and paragraph 5 of Schedule 3 to, the National Health Service (Wales) Act 2006[^f00001], after completion of the consultation prescribed under section 18(3) of that Act, make the following Order:

Title, commencement and interpretation

• (1) The title of this Order is the Velindre National Health Service Trust (Establishment) (Amendment) Order 2017 and it comes into force on 5 October 2017.

• (2) In this Order, “the principal Order” (“y prif Orchymyn”) means the Velindre National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1993[^f00002].

Amendment of article 1 of the principal Order

In article 1(2) of the principal Order, in the appropriate place insert—

• “Wales Infected Blood Support Scheme” means a scheme for financial support and advisory services provided to, or in respect of, persons infected with Hepatitis C, HIV or both as a result of receiving infected blood or blood products during the course of treatment provided by the health service in Wales.

Amendment of article 3 of the principal Order

Article 3 (2) of the principal Order is amended as follows—

• (a) in sub-paragraph (d), in the second place where it appears omit “and”;

• (b) in sub-paragraph (e), for “.” substitute “; and”; and

• (c) after sub-paragraph (e) insert—

(f) to manage and administer the Wales Infected Blood Support Scheme in accordance with directions issued by the Welsh Ministers.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order further amends the Velindre National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1993 in order to amend the functions of Velindre National Health Service Trust.

The Velindre National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1993 is amended to give Velindre National Health Service Trust the function of managing and administering an Infected Blood Support Scheme (in accordance with directions given by the Welsh Ministers) to provide financial support and advisory services to, or in respect of, persons infected with hepatitis C and/or HIV as a result of receiving infected blood or blood products during the course of national health service treatment in Wales.
