The Welsh Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 124(2) and (3) of the Higher Education and Research Act 2017[^f00001], make the following Regulations:
Title and application

- (1) The title of these Regulations is the Higher Education and Research Act 2017 (Commencement No. 1) (Wales) Regulations 2018.
- (2) These Regulations apply in relation to Wales.
Provisions coming into force on 1 April 2018

The following provisions of the Higher Education and Research Act 2017 come into force on 1 April 2018—
- (a) section 88; and
- (b) section 89(2)(h)(ii) and (4).

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
EXPLANATORY NOTE
These Regulations are made under section 124(2) and (3) of the Higher Education and Research Act 2017 (“the Act”). They are the first Regulations which bring specified provisions of the Act into force in relation to Wales.
Regulation 2 provides that sections 88 and 89(2)(h)(ii) and (4) of the Act come into force on 1 April 2018.
