The Curriculum and Assessment (Wales) Act 2021 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2021
Made: 21 September 2021
The Welsh Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 84(2), (3) and (4) of the Curriculum and Assessment (Wales) Act 2021[^f00001], make the following Order.
Title and interpretation

- (1) The title of this Order is the Curriculum and Assessment (Wales) Act 2021 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2021.
- (2) In this Order, “the Act” means the Curriculum and Assessment (Wales) Act 2021.
Provisions coming into force on 29 September 2021

Sections 1 to 5 of the Act come into force on 29 September 2021.
Provisions coming into force on 29 September 2021 for the purposes of issuing or revising a code under sections 6 and 7 of the Act

Sections 6 and 7 of the Act come into force on 29 September 2021 only for the purposes of issuing or revising a code under those sections.
Provisions coming into force on 23 November 2021 for the purposes of issuing or revising a code under section 8 of the Act
4
Section 8 of the Act comes into force on 23 November 2021 only for the purposes of issuing or revising a code under that section.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order brings into force provisions of the Curriculum and Assessment (Wales) Act 2021 (“the Act”).
The provisions listed in article 2 come into force fully on 29 September 2021. These provisions set out the basic concepts that have effect in relation to the curriculum.
The provisions listed in article 3 come into force on 29 September 2021 but only for the purposes of issuing or revising a code under section 6 (the What Matters Code) and section 7 (the Progression Code) of the Act.
The provision listed in article 4 comes into force on 23 November 2021 but only for the purposes of issuing or revising a code under section 8 of the Act (the RSE Code).
