The Welsh Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 of the Nurse Staffing Levels (Wales) Act 2016[^f00001], make the following Order:
Title and interpretation

- (1) The title of this Order is the Nurse Staffing Levels (Wales) Act 2016 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2021.
- (2) In this Order, “the Act” means the Nurse Staffing Levels (Wales) Act 2016.
Day appointed for the coming into force of section 1(2) and (3) of the Act

The day appointed for the coming into force of section 1(2) and (3) of the Act (nurse staffing levels) is 21 January 2021.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order made by the Welsh Ministers brings into force specified provisions of the Nurse Staffing Levels (Wales) Act 2016 (“the Act”).
Article 2 brings into force section 1(2) and (3) of the Act on 21 January 2021. Section 1(2) provides that regulations made under section 25B(3)(c) of the National Health Service (Wales) Act 2006 (“the 2006 Act”) are made using the affirmative procedure. Section 1(3) inserts an entry for “nurse staffing level” to the table in section 207 of the 2006 Act (index of defined expressions).
