4.1.1. Use-specific instructions
Room (30 -150 m3) disinfection by fogging. Is only permitted by trained professionals. For details regarding certification of the applicator and use of the product and equipment (HaloFogger). Reference is made to the protocol room disinfection which is supplied with the product or fogging apparatus.
Thoroughly clean the surfaces to be disinfected.
Remove a cleaning agent, if used, with clean water.
Remove excess of water.
Before treatment, open drawers, closets, cabinet doors etc. to permit exposure to the nebulized product, and dry wet surfaces.
Cover all openings such as inlet and outlet of air-conditioning systems.
Fill the HaloFogger and set the fogging time (See instruction manual) and a dosage of 12 ml/m3.
Activate the HaloFogger and leave the room.
Keep the room closed at least during the contact time of 90 minutes. The contact time of 90 minutes starts at the moment that the concentration of 12 ml product / m3 is completely nebulized into the room.
The user shall always carry out a microbiological validation of the disinfection in the rooms to be disinfected (or in a suitable standard room, if applicable) with the devices to be used, after which a protocol for disinfection of these rooms can be made and used thereafter.
4.1.2. Use-specific risk mitigation measures
- — During the diffusion, keep the room closed and do not enter in. Treatment shall be conducted with no human or animals present.
- — All gaps present in the room (e.g. window frame) from where fog may leak shall be sealed beforehand.
- — Ensure that access to the vapor-treated area is denied during the whole procedure with a warning sign.
- — For re-entry, the undercut of AEC inhalation of 1,25 mg/m3 or a lower relevant national reference value for airborne hydrogen peroxide shall be ensured with a calibrated sensor. The trained professional user may enter the room only in emergency situations when the hydrogen peroxide level has dropped below 36 ppm (50 mg/m3) confirmed by a calibrated sensor wearing mandatory the following PPE: RPE with APF 40 according to EN 12942 or equivalent (Type of RPE to be specified by the authorisation holder within the product information) and suitable protective equipment:
- — gloves consistent with EN ISO 374 or equivalent
- — eye protection (chemical goggles) consistent with EN 166,
- — coverall of at least type 4, consistent with EN 14605 or equivalent) which is impermeable for the biocidal product (coverall material to be specified by the authorisation holder within the product information).
- — A built-in meter (calibrated sensor) should be used to ensure that the concentration of hydrogen peroxide has decreased below 0,9 ppm or a lower relevant national reference value for airborne hydrogen peroxide. Unprotected persons or animals may re-enter the treated room only after the hydrogen peroxide concentration in air decreases lower than 1,25 mg/m3 (0,9 ppm) or a lower relevant national reference value for airborne hydrogen peroxide.
Control measurements shall be performed before entering the room. Re-entry without protective equipment is only allowed when safe working levels are measured in the air.
When means of protection are indicated, these measures are without prejudice to the application of Council Directive 98/24/EC and other Union legislation in the area of health and safety at work. See section 6 for the full references to this act and the EN standards.
